WOW what a year! I cannot believe we have already done a year and a half in business and 2018 is nearly over…
As our doors close for Christmas we wanted to reflect on 2018 and what a year it has been for us.
So here goes…
In April I took the plunge in leaving my 9-5 office job and pursuing this crazy, crafty adventure full time and couldn’t be more pleased with how it has gone.
We have met so many inspiring individuals and businesses across Devon and have been lucky enough to even team up with some of them! Whether it be through holding workshops at their venues or collaborating with them on special events we have loved every minute that this year has thrown at us! A massive thank you and big shout out to Ullacombe Farm, Harbour House, Station Yard Studios, Whatever the Weather Pottery, Powderham Castle, Dainton Golf Club, Lustleigh Show, Abbfest, Kingsbridge Food & Music Festival, St Lukes Hospice, all local primary schools and Bovey Carnival for supporting us this year.
In June, we celebrated a year in business and what a milestone this was for us! From starting the business from my dining room table at home, after a family holiday that involved only one thing – entertaining the children by making pom poms! Our creative director, Emma had a weird and wonderful idea to roll this out across Devon and yes, this was when Pom Stitch Tassel was born!
July brought the summer, (some sunshine :D) and the festival season to Devon! Glasdenbury music and arts festival brought us on board to run the workshop tent this year. We made carnival masks and festival headdresses with all of the festival-goers and we had so much fun sticking sparkly gems, sequins and pom poms everywhere! I was lucky enough to be joined by two of my best friends to help me in running the craft tent and what a blast we had. We cannot wait to join Glasdenbury Festival again next year for more festival crafts!
As we came out of the Summer and into the Autumn season we started to plan for the months ahead and of course, Christmas. In doing so we launched our very own product range all pom pom themed (of course) and some new surprises including our Christmas Craft Kits! With this in mind we started our own Etsy shop and were so very pleased to join lots of fantastic local makers for Plymouth’s Etsy shopping event.
We met a very good friend in Whatever the Weather Pottery, an independent pottery shop based in Old Pottery Court, Chudleigh. Caroline who heads WTWP kindly purchased some of our pom pom products to sell as part of her display in her shop. It was so lovely to see our products for sale in a shop and we are hoping to continue to stock Caroline’s lovely shop for years to come! You can visit WTWP in Chudleigh or see more about her on her Facebook page, we recommend it is definitely worth a visit!
But we have to say our main highlight of the year was meeting YOU! - Our lovely, fantastic, dedicated customers that we could simply not live without! You have supported us by booking craft parties, coming along to our workshops, popping up and seeing us at our events and even purchasing some pom pom goodies from our shop! 2018 has been a fantastic year for us and we cannot be more grateful for your continued support.
We are sad to be closing our doors on 2018 but we are looking forward to a well-deserved, relaxing break and ready to start the New Year with a BANG! New year means new launches and boy do we have lots of new and exciting things to share with you. If you haven’t already make sure you join up to our mailing list so you can here about all of our exciting news from your sofa.
We would like to take the time to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
